Welcome to our City
Isaszeg is the site of the decisive battle of the Spring Campaign of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848-49, which took place on April 6, 1849. Under the leadership of General Artúr Görgey, our troops achieved a brilliant victory over the Austrian forces led by General Windischgrätz. The memory of this glorious battle is preserved by the Monument of the National Defense, created by sculptor Béla Radnai, located on Szoborhegy, and the National Graves in Katonapallag, the resting place of the heroes who fell in battle.
Visitors can explore the historical sites, museums, and monuments of Isaszeg as part of organized city tours. They can also take guided walks or bike tours in the surrounding forests. The nearby fishing ponds always offer plenty of fish for fishing enthusiasts. At the equestrian farms in the area, visitors can go horseback riding or enjoy carriage rides. The Pilis Park Forest also offers hunting opportunities.
Nearby, Gödöllő offers interesting excursions to the Royal Palace (also known as Sissy Castle), the recently renovated Royal Waiting Room, and the Basilica of Our Lady of Hungary in Máriabesnyő.
A 15-minute drive away is Mogyoród, home to one of Hungary’s largest water parks and a go-kart track, as well as the Hungaroring, where visitors can experience Formula 1 races and acceleration races.
In Veresegyház, there is a bear and wolf farm where visitors can safely observe these fantastic animals up close.
